Hudson County VINE Coverage
The state service is New Jersey VINE, reached through VINELink or by telephone at 1-877-846-3465. It is a free custody-information and notification system. Participating agencies send custody events, and the public interface presents the event and notification choices available for a matched person.
Coverage is agency-dependent. Hudson County custody and NJDOC state custody are separate sources even when both appear through New Jersey VINE. The participating agency shown on the record tells which system supplied the event. VINE is not a complete historical criminal-record database, court-disposition source, parole roster, or nationwide federal locator.
New Jersey’s separate Sex Offender Internet Registry is not part of this release check. It includes only people subject to that registry’s public-notification rules and does not cover every released person. A registry result cannot provide the Hudson jail release date, while registry absence cannot resolve custody history.
Search Hudson County VINE
Search for one person at a time. Use stable identifiers where the live interface offers them, and compare more than a name. Aliases, similar names, and spelling differences can create false matches. If partial-name or fuzzy options appear, follow the instructions shown by VINELink rather than assuming how they work.
- Open VINELink and select New Jersey.
- Choose the person or offender search, not a service-provider search.
- Enter the last name, first name, or available offender-ID criteria offered on the live form.
- Compare the reporting agency, name or alias, age, and other displayed identifiers. Do not rely on a name alone.
- Open the correct record and copy the custody-status wording and event date exactly.
- If no result appears, retry verified spelling or an ID and contact the likely source agency.

Write down the stable identifier used for the match. An SBI number can help connect an NJDOC record, while a Hudson booking or case number can anchor a county inquiry. Avoid publishing a full birth date merely to demonstrate a match. Keep only what is needed to distinguish the correct person.

Hudson VINE Release Fields
The live interface controls which fields are available for a given agency. A VINE record may identify the person, the participating agency or location, current custody wording, an event date, and the notification options tied to that record. It does not supply the full county release code, court judgment, or destination in every case.

Copy labels as shown. Do not turn a VINE event into a claim that charges were dismissed, that supervision ended, or that no other agency holds the person.
A “released” status also does not supply the local release-code legend. Hudson County’s record may classify the event as a court-ordered community release, sentence expiration, or transfer. Request that definition when the destination is unclear, especially if the person has not contacted family after the alert.
Note: Capture both the event time and lookup time because later access may show a newer custody status.
Confirm Hudson VINE Release
When a result says released, contact or request records from the agency named on that record. For a Hudson County event, ask the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for the admission-and-release record, release reason or code definition, authorizing authority, and destination or receiving agency where maintained and disclosable.
A community release is only one possibility. Transfer to NJDOC, another county, federal custody, immigration custody, or another institution can end the Hudson booking while confinement continues. A court order may explain why release was authorized, but the jail record establishes the physical county event. If the reporting agency is NJDOC, seek Date Out-of-Custody and the state release or discharge record rather than assuming it describes the county jail.
If the court shows a pretrial order, remember that charges may remain pending. If NJDOC shows a future date after the Hudson event, the county may have transferred the person into state custody. In both cases, VINE should be placed in the event sequence, not treated as the whole record.
VINE says released. Is the person free? Not necessarily. Confirm the release type and destination with the reporting agency before drawing that conclusion.
Register Hudson Release Alerts
Registration begins on the correct matched record. Choose only the events and delivery channels currently offered. Interfaces can change, so follow the live confirmation prompt. A telephone alert commonly uses a four-digit PIN to acknowledge the automated call, while digital channels may use a link or code.

- Choose the release or other custody events offered for that agency.
- Select telephone, email, text, or another channel displayed by the service.
- Enter and verify the destination information.
- Create the requested four-digit PIN for telephone alerts, or complete the digital confirmation shown.
- Save the registration confirmation and update the contact details if they change.
Registration is confidential within the service model, but notification is not a safety guarantee. Maintain the confirmation details and check the source agency when an alert arrives.
Telephone and digital channels can behave differently. The phone PIN acknowledges an automated call; it does not unlock a government record. A text or email may require its own confirmation step. Saving the confirmation helps maintain the registration when contact details change.
Hudson VINE Agency Layer
Hudson County does not use a separately branded SAVIN page in the research record. The local notification layer is New Jersey VINE. This makes the participating agency field especially important. It tells whether a match relates to county custody, state corrections, or another reporting agency.
A release alert starts the confirmation process. For a county event, the Hudson jail record and destination decide whether it was community release or transfer. For a state event, NJDOC history and State Parole Board information may be needed. The agency field keeps those paths separate and prevents a state-prison event from being reported as a county-jail discharge.
Hudson County’s Record Room is the local route for an existing county custody event. A formal county records request can seek the admission timestamp, release timestamp, reason, code definition, authority, and destination. Those details answer questions a short VINE label cannot.

Missing Hudson VINE Results
No result is not proof of release. It can reflect agency scope, timing, data quality, spelling, an incorrect ID, or a custody system outside VINE coverage. Recheck the person’s verified name or identifier and identify the likely custodial level before choosing another source.
If the person may have been held only by municipal police, contact the arresting police records custodian and the correct court. If admission to the Hudson County jail occurred, use the Corrections record. For a possible state commitment, search NJDOC using the SBI number when known. Federal BOP and immigration detention require their own systems.
An NJDOC result can show state custody history, sentence information, and calculated dates, but those dates are not VINE events. Date Out-of-Custody is the historical field to seek for a completed state release. Current Max Release Date and Current Parole Eligibility Date are calculations with different meanings.

Hudson VINE Check Limits
VINE does not track every federal detainee or replace the BOP locator. It is not the ICE detainee locator, the court record, an NJDOC sentence history, or a complete archive of Hudson bookings. A custody status may change before an alert arrives, and technical delivery can fail.
Use VINE as an alert and verification aid. Preserve the exact wording, agency, event time, lookup time, and identifiers. Then verify with the originating agency. A later transfer, new arrest, recommitment, or data update can make two accurate snapshots look inconsistent when their dates are ignored.
For federal custody, use BOP or the responsible federal agency rather than VINE. BOP coverage does not include every person held for the U.S. Marshals Service. Immigration custody is checked through ICE’s locator and agency contact. A failure in one system is not proof of release from another.
Alert timing also has limits. The agency event may occur first, VINE may receive the update later, and the telephone or digital message may arrive after that. Preserve all available times without substituting delivery time for release time. The source agency’s final record controls the event details.
Note: Never rely on a VINE notification alone for personal safety; confirm current status with the responsible agency.
